South Park: Insheeption

South Park have come out with an Inception spoof entitled Insheeption. They've done a really good job, and although they make fun of the film, it really makes me want to go and see Inception again.

It's based on group therapy to deal with hoarding, which Kyle has a problem with. Unfortunately for him he gets sucked into Mr Mackie's dream, which is quite traumatic. My favourite quote from it is when the firemen are asking what a dream within a dream is, "Like a taco in a taco?"

The full episode of South Park: Insheeption can be found here.

Inception is out on DVD in the UK December 6th.

Scream 4 Movie Trailer Official (HD)

I can't believe they're making another one, but they are. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Scream 4. Let's be honest, they've done this to death and I can only see this being a flop.

Out April 15th next year, they've given us a long time to anticipate this, which I think may contribute to their downfall. They'll build people's expectations up high, leaving them to fall further when they see this.

I will say one thing for this production though, they've retained the original cast. It will be interesting to see Courteney Cox alongside David Arquette given their recent split, perhaps this film was the reason?

We'll see.

The Social Network

I was lucky enough to see this last night, and was blown away.

I was fascinated to learn how Facebook began, and how it spiralled into a multi-billion dollar business.
But let's start with the acting. Jesse Eisenberg did a great job of portraying Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, and the world's youngest billionaire. I have seen interviews with Zuckerberg himself, the mannerisms and responses to questions were a spot on match. This is partly due to the acting prowess of Eisenberg, but is also down to the quality of the writing from David Finch.
Justin Timberlake played Napster founder Sean Parker, who arguably contributes to the rift between Facebook co-founders Zuckerberg, and Eduardo Saverin. I was pleasantly surprised by Timberlake's performance; I see a lot of popstars try their hand at acting and a lot of them just don't cut it, this was not the case for Timberlake. He gave a solid performance and I would be very surprised if he did not continue his career on this route.
Andrew Garfield played the role of Eduardo Saverin, who was actually a consultant through the production of the film. I must add that no one else from the Facebook team was involved in the making of the Social Network, and Zuckerberg has said in an interview that he has no intention of seeing it!

Here is the trailer

I was very impressed with director David Finch on this one. The story was told as Zuckerberg was in court being sued by his former best friend, and co-founder of Facebook, Eduardo Saverin. He was also in another hearing being sued by acquaintances at Harvard University who had claimed to have had the idea for Facebook first.
I was glad that I had seen this movie without having known how everything was going to turn out. I saw the film as more of a documentary, and was enthralled in the story learning how everything happened. I find true stories a lot more gripping, and educational at the same time.

I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone interested in social media, or even any Facebook user. I know a lot of people addicted to Facebook, and feel that they would find it fascinating to see the background and foundations it was built on.
Relationship status, adding photos, and wall comments are all second nature to us now, but when Facebook was created it was revolutionary. Mark Zuckerberg has changed the way the world communicates today, and The Social Network shows how he did it.

Steve-O: Jackass 3D Interview

Jackass 3D is out this week and I'm really looking forward to it. In this interview Steve-O describes how the film came about, and how they come up with their stunts.

The fact that it's in 3D really isn't a deal-breaker for me. I'd watch it in 2D, I'm just excited for the fact there's new Jackass to watch!

Faster Movie Trailer Official (HD)

A new action movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson! This one will be hitting our cinemas November 24th.

As a kid, I was a big wrestling fan, and my favourite wrestler had to be The Rock, so I always like to see Dwayne Johnson do well. I enjoyed the short performance he gave in "The Other Guys" and felt he'd make a decent action hero, just so long as he didn't make poor decisions like aiming for the bushes!

This film takes a pretty classic storyline, of an individual, just out of jail, on a vigilante mission to have his vengeance. I'm not expecting this to be a particularly memorable film, but a solid start in a starring role for Johnson. I will give this one a watch as although predictable, it looks really entertaining at the same time.

Unstoppable Movie Trailer Official (HD)

Unstoppable - A new movie out November 12th starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine.

An runaway train is speeding along the tracks destroying everything in it's path. It's effectively a missile as if it derails, it will spill toxic waste and decimate the town. It's up to Washington and Pine's characters to chase this train in a separate locomotive and get it under control before it derails.

If the trailer is anything to go by it looks an absolute blockbuster. I'm a big fan of Denzel from Training Day, American Gangster, and even recently in Book of Eli. If you're a Denzel fan, you ought to go and see this, I know I will be.

Due Date - Official Trailer [HD]

This film looks great. It stars Robert Downey Jnr, and Zach Galafianakis (from the Hangover). It's also directed by The Hangover director, Todd Phillips.

From the trailer, it looks like it will get similar laughs to The Hangover, and the duet format looks quite similar to The Other Guys.

It's out November 5th so I'll be watching it when it hits our cinemas!

The Other Guys

I went to see The Other Guys a few weeks ago, twice in fact, and felt compelled to write a review.

Starring Will Ferrell, Eva Mendez, Mark Wahlberg, and even appearances from Samuel L Jackson and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, it was always going to be a hit.

Jackson and Johnson are the heroes of NYPD, everyone aspires to be them, especially The Other Guys, Allen Gamble (Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Wahlberg).

Their opportunity arises when (probably my favourite scene in the movie) these NYPD "heroes" have an accident.

With Jackson and Johnson's characters out of the picture, everyone in the NYPD is looking for opportunities to impress their superiors in the hope to secure that big time glamourous job. This leads to hilarious consequences for Gamble and Hoitz, as you can imagine.

The on screen chemistry between Ferrell and Wahlberg really impressed me. I am a massive fan of Mark Wahlberg as an actor, but I wasn't sure how he'd fair in a laugh a minute comedy with Will Ferrell. Wahlberg's delivery was very good and had me in stitches throughout the film, and I would definitely like to see him playing a similar role again in the future.
Will Ferrell has done a lot of poor movies over the years, but also some absolute classics. This one ranks up there with the best. The quotes he thinks up never fail to amuse me, and they worked very well in this film.

My favourite quote was from an argument Gamble and Hoitz were having, as to start with they really do not get on well.

Terry Hoitz: No, I don't like you. I think you're a fake cop. The sound of your piss hitting the urinal, it sounds feminine. If you were in the wild, I would attack you, even if you weren't in my food chain. I would go out of my way to attack you. If I were a lion and you were a tuna, I would swim out in the middle of the ocean and freaking eat you and then I'd bang your tuna girlfriend.
Allen Gamble: OK, first off: a lion, swimming in the ocean. Lions don't like water. If you placed it near a river or some sort of fresh water source, that make sense. But you find yourself in the ocean, 20 foot wave, I'm assuming off the coast of South Africa, coming up against a full grown 800 pound tuna with his 20 or 30 friends, you lose that battle, you lose that battle 9 times out of 10. And guess what, you've wandered into our school of tuna and we now have a taste of lion. We've talked to ourselves. We've communicated and said 'You know what, lion tastes good, let's go get some more lion'. We've developed a system to establish a beach-head and aggressively hunt you and your family and we will corner your pride, your children, your offspring.
Terry Hoitz: How you gonna do that?
Allen Gamble: We will construct a series of breathing apparatus with kelp. We will be able to trap certain amounts of oxygen. It's not gonna be days at a time. An hour? Hour forty-five? No problem. That will give us enough time to figure out where you live, go back to the sea, get some more oxygen, and stalk you. You just lost at your own game. You're outgunned and out-manned.
[pause]
Allen Gamble: Did that go the way you thought it was gonna go? Nope.

Thank you to IMDB for the quotes.

Now let's see it delivered from Wahlberg and Ferrell.

Eva Mendez was a great addition to the film, she played Allen Gamble's wife, which was hilarious enough looking at the pairing.
Terry Hoitz finds it difficult to comprehend that a guy like Allen Gamble can have such an attractive wife, and this theme runs throughout the movie. A selection of highly attractive women express interest in Allen and Terry just cannot get his head around it.

We later discover that Allen was a pimp in his past, this was a great scene too.

To conclude, I loved this movie. It is the funniest film I have seen since the Hangover, and was full of hilarious quotes, which I am a big fan of. Ferrell was back to his best on this one, the character suited his talents perfectly. Wahlberg showed his versatility and proved that he can do a great comedy, and my respect for him continues to grow.

I would recommend this film to any Will Ferrell fan, any Mark Wahlberg fan, or any comedy fan. If you haven't seen this movie yet then why not? I am definitely buying the DVD when it is released.
